“If you build it [they] will come.”

From the Publishing-Editor: As the founder of the original Pendletonian newspaper, published in an analog version here some 25 years ago, I have always thought the paper should have a second act. This past fall, I relaunched the publication with the able input of a skeleton crew of designers and columnists. And though the first issue resembles an online magazine more than a newspaper, I have hopes that many, many other people in Pendleton will now come on board to make The Pendletonian a true purveyor of local news; a bright reflection of the town we all love. I invite all of you to contribute, in the myriad ways you can, to make this (at the outset, only virtual) journal of local news (births, deaths, marriages, events, concerns, celebrations, milestones, etc., etc., etc.) your own, as fellow residents of our unique Upcountry town. I did the whole thing pretty much solo back in the 1990s, from chasing ads to photographing babies, but now I will need help of all sorts if we are again to have a newspaper in Pendleton. I am not alone in thinking small local papers best serve the communities that give rise to them. I am waiting eagerly to see who else is interested in coming on board and joining the small group already listed on our Masthead. Meanwhile, many thanks for dropping by!
